Awaodori Kaikan is a place where you can enjoy the traditional awaodori dance of Tokushima province throughout the year. The awaodori dance features small cymbals, flutes and the three-stringed ‘shamisen’and two types of drum. The dance consists of a bending deeply at the waist, and performing the distinctive hand and feet movements, all the while moving to the two-beat rhythm and repeating the basic steps. The awaodori dance is traditionally performed every year between August 12-15 in the center of Tokushima city at the Awaodori Festival.
