Hirome Market

Hirome Market
Located near the ruins of the Tosa Clan’s feudal mansion, this market is known as the Hirome Market, named after this old house that was cared for throughout the Meiji Restoration. The interior is divided into seven blocks – such as the Castle Town Plaza, and Ryoma Street – and there are about 40 establishments of dining and drinking. There are also about 20 shops selling souvenirs and clothing mixed in here. Many of these shops are very unique, so it is good fun just to window-shop and enjoy the buzzing environment.

An experience you won`t find anywhere else.

You will find bonito and moray eel roasted on a straw fire, gyoza dumplings in road-side stands and candied sweet potato – the best of Kochi cuisine. In good Kochi sake-loving spirit, you will see people enjoying a drink even in the morning. There are many nice souvenirs here, for example seared bonito or candied sweet potato in vacuum-packing.
