An experience you won`t find anywhere else.
Throughout the year you can take in the different views – rice transplanting time, when the rice fields are filled with water, and harvesting time, when the whole area is covered in the deep green of the mature rice plants. This is also the site where the Japanese Academy award-winning film ‘Yokame-no-Sem' (Eighth Day of Cicadasi) was shot. Thanks to the filming, the 300-year tradition of ‘mushi-okuri’ (sending off the insects) was revived. In the middle of summer, the farmers walk through the fields with flaming torches to rid the rice plants of pests and pray for a bountiful harvest.
