A museum by Marugame Station where art and architecture resonate.
The Marugame Genichiro-Inokuma Museum of Contemporary Art (MIMOCA) houses approximately 20,000 works donated by Genichiro Inokuma, an artist closely associated with Marugame, and presents special exhibitions of contemporary art. The open, light-filled building designed by Yoshio Taniguchi is itself a major attraction.
Three highlights of MIMOCA
1. Encounter around 20,000 works by Genichiro Inokuma
The themed collection exhibitions trace Inokuma’s continually evolving career over roughly 70 years. Enjoy the free-spirited world created through color and form.
2. Experience Yoshio Taniguchi’s architecture
A monumental mural facing Marugame Station, soaring atriums, and galleries filled with natural light create a harmonious dialogue between art and architecture.

Designed by Yoshio Taniguchi—architect of the 2004 Museum of Modern Art expansion in New York—the building was conceived as one of the world’s most beautiful museums. A large mural and sculptures by Inokuma greet visitors on the plaza facing the station.
